Voluntar Caligo
Voluntar is one of the members of the Sentinels of the Sea and younger brother of Val. Voluntar is a Path of the Berserker Barbarian that takes advantage of his physical strength to displace and neutralize foes at close range.
Appearance
Voluntar is a 25 year old drow with lavender skin and short scruffy hair. A few small scars can be observed across his body, the most notable of which being a medium sized diagonal cut on the upper left shoulder blade. Voluntar is 6 foot 4 inches tall with a lean muscular build which is a result of years of frequent combat training and physical labour. His eyes are light-pink with streaks of violet.
While travelling, Voluntar is most often seen wearing a large black cloak with subtle silver trims around the hood and edges. The cloak is held together around the neck by a large violet charoite set in an ornamental silver brooch. Comissioned by Val after finding the gem on _, the brooch doubles as a quick release mechanism allowing Voluntar to quickly remove the cloak during battle. The cloak is meant to hide Voluntar's weapons and imposing physical appearance. Under the cloak, Voluntar wears simple black pants and a leather harness meant to hold his various weapons without limiting his mobility.
Having eyes adjusted for the Underdark's light conditions, Voluntar often wears large dark goggles during the day to protect his eyes from the sun's intense light.
Fighting Style
Having never received formal weapons training, Voluntar's fighting style is brutal and aggressive more than it is precise. He takes advantage of his physical abilities to control the battlefield and dispose of foes in melee range. Voluntar is able to enter a state of rage which focuses his mind on combat and increases his physical strength. When doing so, his eyes turn white and his muscles become larger. In this state, Voluntar's thoughts shift to the battle at hand making it difficult to focus on anything else. Voluntar is also able to increase the intensity of this rage into a frenzy, causing him to become exahusted after battle.
Being a mostly self-thaught fighter, Voluntar likes to experiment with different weapons and tools. Voluntar's weapon of choice is a great sword to which he has attached a large metal chain. The chain allows Voluntar to swing and throw his weapon to attack foes at a distance. A large hook is attached to the other end of the chain which is allows Voluntar to displace or restrain the movement of enemies.
As a result of his constant training and the experience he has acquired with the legion, Voluntar's messy combat style is evolving to become more structured and precise. The state of rage that he enters during combat is becoming noticeably more controlled. This allows Voluntar to think more clearly on the battlefield and more efficiently take advantage of his abilities.
