Pluk Twangler
This little lavender goblin was raised in an underground (literally underground) mafia type family. Pluk saw that with money, wit and opportunity, he could get anything he imagined. His family kept him fed and gave him clothes, though he saw many risks being taken that resulted in the kidnapping of his only brother named Tukk. Pluk wasn't really all that attached to his brother, but he feared that he could be next and figured his lifestyle probably wasn’t the safest. When he turned 8 years old, Pluk realized his desires didn’t align with his family’s. After a huge argument, he went out on his own to start a life for himself to fulfill his dream of forming his own independent trading business with the people on the surface. His only skills keeping him alive were his abilities to talk through any deal. The world out here was nothing like the cozy cave he grew up in. It wasn’t at all like he expected and felt incredibly disappointed in himself. Pluk ended up lost in the desert and was starving almost immediately. Pluk wandered and wandered til eventually he came across a trail of scarab beetles. Out of desperation, he followed the trail and it led him to a literal ball of shit. But next to the ball of shit was a thorny shrub of desert limes. Pluk, who was likely hallucinating, offered to trade his services to these beetles in exchange for a serving of limes. The beetles apparently agreed so he ate a lime, peel and all. They kept him alive and he thanked the beetles. Pluk continued to observe and live closely to these beetles who were happy with their end of the deal… (which was rolling and eating Pluk’s droppings) To gain extra calories, he built a primitive bow and learned how to hunt. And he shot well! He practiced by hunting birds and sharing the meat with his lawful scarabs. The bow came in handy to defend himself from enemies as well. Pluk regained his strength and returned to town. Pluk was still followed by his beetle companions; they collected interesting goodies found in the desert that he would sell to townspeople. He put together a unique little shop that captivated strangers. His collection was mostly comprised of lost items, oddities and shiny objects. Pluk’s abnormally friendly charm had customers convinced these items were “good luck charms”. Many times he was offered his weight in gold in exchange for his bow (not all that much gold) but Pluk always politely declined. He still needed the bow for whenever he went scavenging in the desert for more commercial wares. The name Pluk started to catch on in town. This unfortunately came with a cost of dealing with thugs and burglaries. So he had to build a thicker skin to defend his shop and therefore trained for combat with his bow and got better at fighting. The beetles also had a hand at combat alongside him! After several years, Pluk learned how to maintain a pretty good business that he called “Tossed n’ Mound”. He owned a not too shabby indoor establishment, hired teenage staff (though he didn't need much since the beetles did almost everything), and was making trades with external businesses regularly. He’d go on excursions where his staff tagged along to collect materials. Pluk had a good standing relationship with the blacksmith, Henk, by providing valuable metals. He also had a good relationship with Burgell, finder of knowledge and archeology. Pluk was living a happy little life until inciting incidents…
